The ambitious Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway infrastructure project continues to make significant progress and is nearing completion, signalling a major leap forward in regional connectivity for Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR) and surrounding industrial hubs.

Spanning approximately 108–109 kilometres, the expressway will provide a fast, access-controlled road link between Ahmedabad’s Sardar Patel Ring Road and Dholera SIR, forming a crucial part of the Delhi–Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) and Gujarat’s connectivity framework.

Once operational, the expressway is expected to reduce travel time between Ahmedabad and Dholera to just 40–45 minutes, replacing what was previously a longer journey on conventional roads. This improvement is projected to ease commuting for workers, enhance logistics efficiency, and support smoother movement of goods and services between key industrial regions.

Construction work has progressed rapidly, with recent reports indicating that the project has achieved near-completion status — with most civil works finalized and finishing touches underway on key segments of the corridor.

The expressway’s design includes multiple interchanges and planned connectivity to other major infrastructure developments such as the future Dholera International Airport, further strengthening access between industrial, commercial and logistics nodes.

In addition to easing passenger movement, the expressway is expected to significantly benefit transporters, industrial suppliers, and investors by offering faster linkages to the smart city complex, export facilitation zones, labor markets and logistics hubs. This is likely to attract more business investment and accelerate development in Dholera, making it more accessible for regional, national and global firms.

As the finishing stages of construction are completed, authorities are expected to begin formal inauguration and operational use in early 2025, marking a milestone in Gujarat’s efforts to build integrated transport corridors and strengthen economic growth across the state.
