Dholera Smart Grid & Renewable Energy Infrastructure Gains Momentum
Dholera Smart City continues to strengthen its core infrastructure with steady progress in smart grid deployment and renewable energy systems, reinforcing its position as a future-ready industrial and urban hub. During early 2025, authorities overseeing the Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR) confirmed that advanced power infrastructure is being aligned with the city’s growing industrial and investment ecosystem.
The smart grid framework being implemented in Dholera is designed to handle high-load requirements from industries such as semiconductor manufacturing, data centers, logistics hubs, and advanced manufacturing units. The system includes automated substations, real-time power monitoring, intelligent load balancing, and digital control mechanisms to ensure stable and uninterrupted electricity supply across industrial, commercial, and residential zones.
Alongside smart grid development, renewable energy integration is gaining momentum — particularly through large-scale solar power initiatives. Dholera already hosts one of Gujarat’s major solar energy zones, and additional grid-connected renewable capacity is being planned to meet future industrial demand while reducing dependence on conventional power sources.
Officials involved in the project highlighted that the combined approach of smart grid technology and renewable energy sourcing will help lower operational costs for industries, improve energy efficiency, and enhance reliability. These measures are especially important as Dholera prepares for phased operationalization of large semiconductor plants, industrial townships, and logistics parks.
The energy infrastructure upgrades complement other major projects underway in the region, including the Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway, Dholera International Airport, activation zone development, and proposed railway connectivity. Together, these initiatives are shaping an integrated, multi-modal smart city ecosystem.
Industry analysts believe that a robust and sustainable power framework will significantly boost investor confidence and support Dholera’s long-term vision as a next-generation smart industrial city under the Delhi–Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) initiative.
