Dholera, Gujarat, India:
Electric mobility is being positioned as a key pillar of Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR) as authorities advance plans to build a strong EV-friendly transport ecosystem across the region.

Strategic EV charging infrastructure is proposed along major corridors connecting industrial zones, residential sectors, logistics parks, and commercial hubs. Charging stations are expected to be placed at regular intervals to support private electric vehicles, electric buses, and industrial transport fleets.

Integration with renewable energy sources is a major focus of the plan. Several EV charging stations are being designed to operate with solar power and smart energy management systems, aligning with Dholera’s broader clean energy vision.

Public transport electrification is also part of the roadmap. Dedicated infrastructure for electric buses, e-rickshaws, and shared mobility services is being evaluated to ensure smooth and affordable last-mile connectivity for workers and residents.

Industrial and logistics support remains a priority. EV facilities are planned near warehouses, manufacturing clusters, and freight movement zones to encourage the use of electric delivery vehicles and reduce fuel-based logistics operations.

Smart city integration will allow EV infrastructure to be monitored through centralized digital systems. Real-time data on charger availability, energy consumption, and maintenance status will help improve efficiency and reduce downtime.

Environmental and economic impact is expected to be significant. The initiative aims to lower carbon emissions, reduce noise pollution, and decrease long-term transportation costs for businesses operating in Dholera SIR.

Urban planners believe that early-stage electric mobility planning gives Dholera a long-term advantage over conventional cities, where EV infrastructure is often added later as a retrofit. This proactive approach strengthens Dholera’s image as a future-ready industrial hub aligned with national EV and sustainability goals.
