A senior delegation from the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) recently visited Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR) to assess on-ground progress of infrastructure and industrial development projects. The visit reflects increasing global institutional interest in Dholera as India’s emerging smart industrial city and semiconductor manufacturing hub.

During the visit, JBIC officials reviewed key infrastructure components, including expressway connectivity, activation zone development, power and water utilities, and industrial land readiness. Particular attention was given to projects supporting semiconductor manufacturing and advanced technology industries, which are central to India’s long-term industrial strategy.

The delegation was briefed on the status of major initiatives such as the Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway, progress on the Dholera International Airport, and availability of reliable energy infrastructure, including renewable power. These elements are critical for attracting capital-intensive industries that require stable utilities and efficient logistics.

Officials also discussed Dholera’s role under the Delhi–Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) framework and its alignment with India’s semiconductor policy objectives. JBIC representatives reportedly evaluated opportunities for financial cooperation, long-term project financing, and potential support for Japanese companies considering manufacturing and technology investments in the region.

Industry observers note that JBIC’s engagement is significant, as the institution plays a key role in supporting Japanese overseas investments through financing, guarantees, and strategic partnerships. Its interest in Dholera is seen as a positive signal for other global investors assessing India’s next-generation industrial zones.

The visit further strengthens Dholera’s position as a globally relevant smart city project, backed by coordinated central and state government support, modern infrastructure planning, and a growing ecosystem for high-technology manufacturing. Analysts believe such international reviews can accelerate investment decisions and deepen cross-border industrial collaboration in the coming years.
