Dholera Set to Gain from Gujarat's 7.5 GW Data Centre Policy
Gujarat's newly notified Data Centre Policy 2026–29 targets 7.5 GW of data centre capacity, with Dholera expected to emerge as one of the state's key locations for large-scale digital and technology infrastructure.
Dholera, Gujarat: Dholera is expected to receive a major boost in technology-led investment following the notification of Gujarat's Data Centre Policy 2026–29.
The new policy sets a target of developing around 7.5 GW of data centre capacity across Gujarat, with Dholera identified as an important location for future hyperscale and digital infrastructure projects.
The development comes at a time when demand for data centres is increasing rapidly due to the growth of artificial intelligence, cloud computing, digital services and high-capacity data storage.
Dholera's planned industrial infrastructure, availability of land and ongoing connectivity projects are expected to support the establishment of large-scale data centre facilities in the region.
The development also adds to Dholera's growing technology ecosystem. The region is already attracting attention due to the upcoming semiconductor manufacturing facility being developed by Tata Electronics, along with major transport and infrastructure projects.
Dholera International Airport, the Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway and proposed rail connectivity are also expected to improve access to the region and support future industrial development.
The Gujarat government is looking to attract major domestic and international investment through the new data centre policy. The policy is expected to support infrastructure required for hyperscale data centres, AI computing facilities, cloud services and related digital businesses.
While the 7.5 GW figure represents the state's overall capacity target, Dholera is expected to play a significant role in Gujarat's plan to create a major data centre and digital infrastructure ecosystem.
The development further strengthens Dholera's position as one of Gujarat's emerging destinations for advanced manufacturing, technology and large-scale infrastructure investment.
