Global logistics company DHL Group plans to set up a dedicated semiconductor logistics facility in Dholera, Gujarat, with an initial investment of approximately ₹50 crore. The proposed warehouse will be located near Tata Electronics’ semiconductor fabrication project in the Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR) and is expected to begin operations by August 2027. If developed as planned, it will be DHL’s first dedicated semiconductor warehouse in India.

The plan was first reported by Mint on October 13, 2026. The project is currently at the planning stage. Vikas Anand, Managing Director of DHL Supply Chain India, said the initial investment could increase three to four times by 2030, depending on customer requirements and business growth. This potential expansion has not been announced as a confirmed commitment, and the final scale of the facility will depend on demand from the semiconductor ecosystem.

The proposed facility is intended to serve semiconductor manufacturers and their suppliers with specialised warehousing, inventory management, transportation and material handling services. Semiconductor production involves the movement of sensitive equipment, wafers, chemicals, components and finished chips across several stages, and these operations require strict quality controls, traceability, security and timely delivery. Locating a logistics base close to a fabrication plant can help reduce transit times and support the controlled handling that many of these materials need.

DHL already provides semiconductor logistics services in other markets, covering requirements from fab construction to the delivery of finished products. The company uses trucks fitted with air ride suspension systems to move sensitive semiconductor manufacturing equipment. However, the full technical specifications of the proposed Dholera warehouse have not yet been disclosed.

The Dholera investment forms part of DHL Group’s broader plan to invest around €1 billion in India across its business units by 2030. That programme covers areas including life sciences and healthcare, new energy, e-commerce and digitalisation.

The warehouse is planned close to the semiconductor fab being built by Tata Electronics in partnership with Taiwan’s Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (PSMC). The fab, which involves an investment of about ₹91,000 crore, has a planned capacity of 50,000 wafers per month, and production is expected to begin in 2028. While the location of DHL’s facility is linked to the fab, no specific logistics contract between DHL and Tata Electronics has been confirmed so far.

DHL is not the only global logistics company looking at Dholera. Japan’s NX Group has planned a semiconductor logistics centre in Dholera in 2027 and has signed memorandums of understanding with the India Semiconductor Mission and Nagase. Other supply-chain developments around the Dholera fab include Fujifilm’s proposed phased investment of about ₹800 crore in a semiconductor materials facility, announced in September 2026, and Tata Electronics’ planned 363-acre vendor park for suppliers near the fab.

Together, these projects point to the growing focus on support infrastructure around Dholera’s semiconductor cluster, covering materials, logistics and supplier networks alongside chip manufacturing. A fabrication plant depends on a reliable flow of equipment and materials, and specialised logistics capacity near the site is considered a
