The Gujarat government, in collaboration with central energy authorities, has proposed a new interstate transmission system (ISTS) scheme to bolster the power supply infrastructure in Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR). The project aims to provide 150–200 MW of additional, redundant electricity dedicated to supporting the region’s growing industrial and manufacturing units.

Key Features of the ISTS Power Scheme:
Redundant power supply: Ensures uninterrupted electricity for semiconductor fabs, manufacturing plants, and industrial parks.
Capacity scale: 150–200 MW, designed to accommodate both current and future industrial demand in Dholera.
Smart city integration: Aligns with Dholera’s smart grid and renewable energy plans, enhancing energy reliability and efficiency.
Industrial growth support: Facilitates expansion of existing manufacturing units and attracts new industrial investments to the region.
Connectivity: Links Dholera to Gujarat’s state grid and national power infrastructure, enabling efficient load distribution and backup supply.

Officials note that the scheme will play a critical role in the success of large-scale projects in Dholera, such as NextGen Semiconductor Fab, Tillman Global data centre, and other high-tech industrial facilities. The addition of a robust, redundant power supply is expected to strengthen investor confidence and accelerate industrialization.

Why It Matters:
• Guarantees reliable power for industrial operations, reducing downtime risks and supporting high-tech manufacturing.
• Enhances Dholera’s position as a smart industrial city with modern energy infrastructure.
• Encourages private and foreign investment by addressing a key infrastructure requirement for industries.
• Supports sustainable and scalable industrial growth, aligned with Dholera’s long-term development plan.
