Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway Extension to Bhavnagar Proposed; Connectivity Project Reviewed in Gujarat

The proposed extension of the Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway to Bhavnagar has emerged as an important infrastructure initiative following a review of major National Highway projects in Gujarat. The proposal was discussed during a meeting chaired by Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, along with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, to assess the progress of ongoing road infrastructure across the state.

According to reports, the proposed extension is expected to move forward after the required approvals and preparatory work are completed. Officials indicated that the project could begin in the coming months as part of efforts to strengthen Gujarat's highway network.

The extension is expected to improve road connectivity between Ahmedabad, Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR), Dholera International Airport, and Bhavnagar. Improved transport links could facilitate smoother movement of industrial goods, reduce travel time, and support the growing manufacturing and logistics ecosystem developing around Dholera.

The Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway is already considered a key infrastructure project for the region, providing faster access to Dholera SIR. If the proposed extension is implemented, it would further enhance connectivity with Bhavnagar and nearby coastal areas while complementing other major projects such as the Dholera International Airport and future rail infrastructure.

The extension remains at the proposal stage, and further progress will depend on the completion of statutory approvals and subsequent project execution.
