NHAI Plans ₹124.40 Crore Interchange at Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway and SP Ring Road Junction
NHAI has invited bids for a ₹124.40 crore interchange connecting the Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway with Sardar Patel Ring Road to improve regional traffic movement.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has initiated plans for a new interchange at the Ahmedabad end of the Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway, strengthening connectivity between the high-speed corridor and Ahmedabad's wider road network.
According to the government tender published on 8 September 2026, the interchange will be developed where the Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway meets the Sardar Patel Ring Road (SPRR). The project carries an estimated value of ₹124.40 crore and will be executed through the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) model.
The proposed interchange is intended to make movement between the expressway and SP Ring Road more efficient. Current plans include dedicated ramps and service-road connections that would allow vehicles to move between Ahmedabad, the ring road and the Dholera corridor with fewer conflicts at the junction.
Reported plans show one ramp connecting traffic moving from the Bakrol side towards Dholera and another serving vehicles travelling from Dholera towards Sanathal. Service roads are also proposed as part of the redesigned junction.
The project is particularly important because this location serves as the starting point of the Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway. Improving the junction could make access to the corridor smoother for commuters, commercial vehicles and traffic travelling towards Dholera Special Investment Region.
The Ahmedabad–Dholera corridor is becoming increasingly important as industrial and infrastructure projects develop around Dholera, including semiconductor manufacturing, the upcoming international airport and other large-scale investments.
Better integration with Ahmedabad's existing road network could therefore support not only passenger travel but also logistics and movement associated with future industrial activity.
NHAI has set 22 October 2026 as the deadline for bid submissions, with bids scheduled to be opened on 23 October 2026. The reported construction period is around 18 months after award of the contract.
The new interchange would add another connectivity upgrade to the Ahmedabad–Dholera corridor and could make access from Ahmedabad's urban road network to Dholera more direct as traffic on the expressway increases.
