The Dholera International Airport, a key infrastructure project supporting the development of Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR), is on track for completion by December 2025, according to official government updates. The airport is expected to begin initial passenger and cargo operations in 2026.

Located near Dholera Smart City in Gujarat, the airport is being developed as a greenfield international airport and will play a crucial role in transforming Dholera into a major logistics, manufacturing, and industrial hub under the Delhi–Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) framework.

Key Highlights of the Dholera International Airport Project:
Construction work is progressing steadily, including runway development, terminal building, and airside infrastructure
• The airport is designed to handle both domestic and international flights, along with dedicated cargo operations
Cargo and logistics facilities will support industries such as manufacturing, electronics, automobiles, and semiconductors
• The project aims to decongest Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport by handling future traffic growth

Officials stated that land acquisition and major civil works have been largely completed, with focus now on terminal structures, navigation systems, and supporting utilities. Trial runs and safety inspections are expected closer to project completion.

Once operational, the Dholera International Airport will provide direct air connectivity to Dholera SIR, significantly reducing travel time for business travelers, investors, and workers. It is also expected to boost foreign and domestic investment, improve export logistics, and generate employment in the region.

The airport, combined with projects like the Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway and upcoming industrial clusters, is seen as a critical enabler for Dholera’s emergence as one of India’s most advanced smart cities.
