95% of Dholera SIR Phase 1 Infrastructure Completed, Confirms Gujarat Govt
The Government of Gujarat has announced that around 95% of infrastructure development under Phase 1 of the Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR) has been completed. This major milestone marks the transformation of Dholera into one of India’s most advanced and investment-ready industrial hubs.
Phase 1 covers an activation area of 22.54 square kilometres within the total 920 sq km development zone that spans 22 villages in the Dholera taluka of Ahmedabad district.
Officials confirmed that nearly all major infrastructure components — including 72 kilometres of internal roads, stormwater drains, power transmission lines, and a 150 million litres-per-day (MLD) water-supply network — have been completed. The plug-and-play facilities will allow industries to start operations immediately once allotted land parcels are ready.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel reviewed progress during his site visit on 14 December 2023, where he directed the final round of inspections and quality checks before full commissioning of Phase 1 infrastructure.
The Dholera Industrial City Development Limited (DICDL), which oversees the project, noted that once Phase 1 is fully activated, the city will focus on attracting high-value sectors such as semiconductors, renewable energy, defence manufacturing, electric vehicles, logistics, and aerospace.
Officials emphasized that Dholera’s world-class connectivity — including expressway access, metro-link integration, and a dedicated international airport under construction — positions it as a next-generation industrial and innovation hub.
Analysts believe this progress signals Dholera’s transition from the planning phase to a fully functional investment destination, setting a strong foundation for sustainable growth and employment generation in Gujarat.
