Dholera International Airport 80% Complete; Centre Targets Operations by October 2026
Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu said Dholera International Airport has reached around 80% construction, with the Centre aiming to make it operational by September–October 2026, subject to DGCA approvals.
Construction of Dholera International Airport has reached around 80% completion, according to Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu, who recently reviewed the progress of the project in Gujarat. Following the review, the minister said the Centre is targeting to make the airport operational by September–October 2026, subject to approvals from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
The airport is being developed within the Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR) and forms part of Gujarat's long-term infrastructure and industrial development strategy. Once operational, it is expected to strengthen regional air connectivity while supporting passenger travel, cargo movement and business activities.
The project has been planned as India's first Aerotropolis, integrating airport infrastructure with industrial development. The broader vision includes support for manufacturing, logistics, semiconductor investments, cargo operations and future aviation-related facilities, helping position Dholera as an emerging industrial and economic hub.
The latest progress update reflects the continued advancement of one of Gujarat's key infrastructure projects. With construction entering its final phase, Dholera International Airport is expected to play an important role in improving connectivity and supporting future investment opportunities across the region, once all regulatory requirements are completed.
