Western Railway Invites Bids for Design Consultancy of Proposed Sarkhej–Dholera Rail Corridor
Western Railway has invited bids for design consultancy work related to the proposed Sarkhej–Dholera rail corridor, a connectivity project linked to Dholera, Lothal NMHC and Dholera International Airport.
Western Railway has invited bids to appoint a Detailed Design Consultant (DDC) for the proposed Sarkhej–Dholera rail corridor in Gujarat, marking a fresh infrastructure-related update linked to Dholera’s long-term connectivity planning.
According to tender-related reports, the consultancy work is associated with the proposed rail corridor between Sarkhej and Dholera, along with planned connectivity links to Lothal’s National Maritime Heritage Complex (NMHC) and Dholera International Airport. The latest development is related to the design and planning stage of the corridor rather than the start of physical rail construction.
The tender is intended to appoint a consultant for detailed design work for the proposed route. In large infrastructure projects, consultancy at this stage generally covers route planning, engineering design, technical studies, and preparation for later execution phases.
The proposed rail corridor is being watched because it is linked to the wider infrastructure ecosystem developing around Dholera SIR. Improved rail connectivity is considered important for industrial regions connected with manufacturing, logistics, airport access, and future urban expansion. If the project progresses further, the corridor could strengthen connectivity between the Ahmedabad region and Dholera while also supporting access to Dholera International Airport and Lothal NMHC.
The latest tender-stage movement adds to a broader set of connectivity and infrastructure developments linked to Dholera, alongside projects such as the Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway, Dholera International Airport, and ongoing industrial investment activity in the region.
