Government Approves New Semiconductor Manufacturing Unit in Dholera

The Union Cabinet has approved a new semiconductor manufacturing project in Dholera, Gujarat, under the India Semiconductor Mission. The project will be developed by Crystal Matrix Limited (CML) and forms part of the Government of India’s efforts to expand domestic semiconductor manufacturing capabilities.
According to official information, Crystal Matrix Limited will establish an integrated facility for compound semiconductor fabrication and Assembly, Testing, Marking and Packaging (ATMP) operations in Dholera. The facility will focus on the production of Mini and Micro-LED display modules based on Gallium Nitride (GaN) technology.
The project was approved by the Union Cabinet on 5 May 2026 along with another semiconductor proposal in Gujarat. The two projects represent a combined investment of approximately ₹3,936 crore and are expected to generate employment opportunities for skilled professionals in the semiconductor sector.
Official project details indicate that the Dholera facility will manufacture Mini and Micro-LED display products for applications across consumer electronics, automotive displays, smart devices, and emerging technology sectors. The facility will also provide GaN foundry services and related semiconductor manufacturing capabilities.
The approval adds another semiconductor-related project to Dholera, which is already attracting significant investment in advanced manufacturing and electronics production.
